Course Content:

The course is split into two modules:

Unit EC1: Management and control of environmental hazards

  • Foundations in environmental management
  • Environmental management systems
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Controls of emissions to air
  • Control of contamination of water resources
  • Control of waste and land use
  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Control of environmental noise
  • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

EC2 – Environmental Practical Application

The practical assessment is carried out in the candidate’s own workplace. The practical must be completed within 14 days of sitting the examination for the EC1 unit.

This course is designed for Managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a professional understanding of the requirements for Environmental Management systems
  • Demonstrate a professional understanding of Environmental Impacts
  • Demonstrate a professional understanding of Controlling Environmental Emergencies

Assessment:

The course is assessed by a, two hour written exam which are held at the end of the course.

In addition to the written exam, each delegate is required to submit a handwritten practical assessment which is introduced and issued during the course.

Course Duration:

This course can be offered in blocks or day release basis

  • Block release – Two one-week blocks followed by a single exam day
  • Day release – One day per week over a 10-week period, followed by a single exam day

Valid for:

Certification for this course does not hold an expiry date however NEBOSH recommends that delegates maintain CPD (continued professional development)
