Course Content: This course provides an understanding of Health and Safety law and responsibilities. Common workplace hazards and effective control measures and why determining why accidents involving injury or damage occur in the workplace. The course also looks at the principles of prevention and how a good Health and Safety Management system can affect work practices.

Who should attend: This internationally recognised course is designed for those in Management or supervisory roles across all industry sectors, who need a broad understanding of Health and Safety.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the course, you will have an understanding of:

  • Health and Safety law
  • Health and Safety Responsibilities
  • Hazard identification
  • Risk assessment and the need for method statements
  • Accident/incident prevention

Course Duration: The course lasts three days, 9:00 am – 5 pm daily. The course can be delivered as three consecutive days or one day a week over a three week period, or any combination of multiple days over consecutive weeks.

Assessment: The course is assessed by a short handwritten assessment paper and post-course practical assignment require a risk assessment to be completed on a workplace of the delegates choosing.

Valid for: Certification for this course does not hold an expiry date however IOSH recommend that delegates undergo a refresher course every five years and maintain CPD (continued professional development)
